Introduction to NetStatus
Status Report
The GCP network has a growing number of Egg-sites, distributed around the world and sending data over the Internet to central servers. To monitor their activity, a report of the current status of the network is automatically generated by the Basket
program which collects and archives the data.
Real-Time Display
The real-time display is an online presentation of the most recent data accumulated by the GCP network. There are several visual options and accompanying sounds, all based on the actual data from the network of Eggs. For practical reasons, the momentary data cannot be presented in a synchronized computation, and what you will see are data that are about 10 minutes old. This page uses Java, and requires some time to load and compute, but it is very much worth the wait.
Host Sites
Some detailed information on the network of Eggs is available, including the names of the people involved, the exact geographic locations and the type of REG used at each site.
GCP Software
Since we want the network to grow larger, and to be broadly distributed around the world, we provide information about hosting an Egg, and access to the software, with details on the basic hardware and operating system requirements for becoming a host. Currently, we are only expanding in geographic areas in which we do not already have Egg hosts.
