Pinball Animation
Although this is a fixed picture, simulating the buildup of a quasi-Gaussian distribution in an amimation of a pinball machine, it shows how random sampling builds a distribution. Here, you can watch a large number of balls fall through a pin array, to land in collecting bins, which become columns showing the populations across a distributon of deviations from the most likely position, which we call the mean, or average. The graphic comes by way of Rick Berger, apparently from Burke Brown.
